FAQ

What does psychological evaluation involve?

Psychological (clinical) evaluation is a set of sessions in which, once we’ve discussed and understood your issues, I will assess you for one or more psychological diagnoses (disorders such as depression, anxiety, etc.). For the assessment, I will use specialized tools accredited by the College of Psychologists, in the form of questionnaires you will answer. Once I analyze your responses, I will share the interpretation of the results with you, and together we will discuss a treatment plan.

Unlike psychological evaluation, which is short-term (2–3 sessions, depending on the context), the psychotherapy process focuses on the reason you’re coming to therapy and helps you, in short, to resolve the issues you’re facing. We’ll sit face to face for 50 minutes, during which you’ll tell me what’s troubling you, and I’ll ask questions about what you’ve shared to better understand your story and to be able to help you further.

The psychotherapeutic process does not have a fixed duration; it varies from person to person. Depending on each individual's situation and any present disorders, it may last from 20 sessions and up. Most clients don’t come to therapy just because they have a problem to solve, but also to better understand and accept themselves. Depending on the depth you wish to reach in the process, we may end up working together for several years.
